Cairns Foundation Innovation Challenge winners announced – The West Volusia Beacon

Each year, The Cairns Foundation co-sponsors an Innovation Challenge in which students from local colleges and universities pitch their innovative ideas to a group of potential investors, and compete for cash prizes and ongoing business incubator support.
Finalists from the schools presented their ideas to the panel last month, and Chipper Stempkowski, a student at Stetson University, took first place with a cash prize of $10,000 plus one year of space at the UCF Volusia Business Incubator.
His app YourCEtracker seeks to assist individuals and organizations in preventing professional certifications from lapsing. The app also provides tracking for certification and continuing-education edits and course hosting for training providers.
Kendall Buck, also a student at Stetson, took second place with her Herbtastic herb rake kitchen tool.
